The bear is associated with great strength, power, healing and self-knowledge. He is the great protector, the "sacred bear." The Zuni tribe believed the bear is a spiritual guide and also carries within supernatural powers. I currently live in Lake Tahoe, CA where bears wander in my back yard and surprise me when going for a walk in my neighborhood. I used to work in a marina where a bear liked to occasionally visit. He would stroll along the beach and go for a dip in the water, scaring the tourists before wandering to a small patch of woods to take a nap. It was fun to watch. I would randomly find him sleeping in the alleyway where my car was parked and would take the long way around. Word of advice.....don't take selfies with a bear.
