For painting two in the series of five BVI vintage travel poster paintings, I chose to do Cow Wreck Beach. Anegada is one of my favorite Islands in the BVI as its the furthest away and the flattest and most remote. They have Limbo contests at the local lobster bar and you can rent scooters to zip around the island to visit the different beaches. Cow Wreck beach got its name after a ship carrying cow bones to be used for fertilizer or buttons wrecked off the coast of Anegada in the late 19th century. For years the cow bones continued to wash ashore, leading to the famous and very literal name. There is a small beach bar where you can order the classic BVI cocktail of a Pain Killer or play play pool on a very wonky and weathered pool table. When working on the yachts we would bring guests here to visit this white sandy beach, loaded with conch shells. And if I've been here with you just know that it's a special memory for me!
