Another song that stuck around, had a strong visual. The Sweater Song by Weezer. The line "if you want to destroy my sweater" is a metaphor from Weezer's song Undone - The Sweater Song, representing the unraveling of the self. The sweater is a symbol of a person's identity or emotional composure, and "destroying" it is akin to their life or sanity falling apart, while the "thread" is the one small piece of that composure that someone else might hold onto. The full chorus, "If you want to destroy my sweater, hold this thread as I walk away," is an analogy from a college English class. The professor used the example of a thesis statement being the thread that holds a paper together; if the person walks away, the sweater (the argument) unravels.
